In the early morning hours of December 28, 2017, the Good Lord called William "Bop" Campbell Fowler. He left this world peacefully from his home with his wife, Betty Fowler by his side. Bop was 83 years old, born on June 14, 1934.
Bill was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Though slowed by Parkinson's in his later years, he was a brilliant man who enjoyed the simple things: working in the yard, sailing, wood work, and fixing and reorganizing things around the house. He was a good man who lived his life based on the simple principles of doing what is right, doing the best he could at whatever he did, and treating others fairly. In doing so he gave selflessly of himself to his family and friends. He was a quiet man with a quick wit and dry sense of humor. The love he gave will help us all endure the loss of such a great man who did the common things so well.
Bill was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota with two older sisters, Betty and Joyce. He spent his youth with lifelong friend Craig Jenson and graduated from the University of Minnesota. After graduation Bill spent two years as an Air Force officer stationed at Biggs Air Force Base in El Paso, Texas. There he met the love of his life, Betty Hamilton. They married and moved to Seattle, Washington where Bill worked as an aeronautical engineer for Boeing. They later moved to Dallas, Texas and Bill joined LTV. He eventually accepted an offer to work with friend and neighbor, Walt Henrion, at T.G.I. Fridays. In 1999, Bill retired.
Married for 58 years, Bill and Betty shared a love that knew no bounds. In health and in sickness Betty was his constant companion and caregiver. Her compassion lives on as a beautiful example for her children and grandchildren.
Bill was an amazing father, role model and more. He was an active participant in his children's lives coaching sports, leading scouts, attending dance and piano recitals, and many other activities. As an animal lover, he treasured all his dogs: Jinx, Sadie, Sarah and Abbie. He is survived by his daughter, Carol and her children, Audrey and Aaron; son Tom, his wife Lana, and their children Olivia and Austin; daughter, Nancy, her husband Gregg, and their children Ry, his wife Liz, Kellen, whom Bop joins in heaven, and Taylor; son Andy, his wife Karen, and their children, Rhiannon, Hannah, Megan, and Matthew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dolly Fowler; sisters, Betty Wold and Joyce Meier; and grandson Kellen Beck.
There will be a Celebration of Bill's Life for friends and family at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum on February 4th at 2:00 P.M.
