Walter James Murphy (Walt), 83 years old of Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully on September 17, 2017 surrounded by his family. He courageously fought Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.
Walter was born in Chicago on August 12, 1934. He graduated Ela-Vernon High School. He proudly served in the 101st Airborne in the US Army.
Walter was married to Beth on August 8, 1958. They had just celebrated their 59th anniversary.
Walter was the General Superintendent for Flour City Architectural Metals starting in 1968 until he retired. Some of the major projects he worked on were the Jon Hancock Building, Sears Tower, Allied Bank Tower which is now known as Fountain Place, Library Square which at the time it was built was the tallest building west of the Mississippi and it is now known as the Wilshire Grand Center, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as well as many others. He enjoyed golf, tennis, fishing and most of all spending time with his family.
Walter is survived by his loving wife Beth, his children Walter, Doug, Laura Murphy-Pippard and Luanne Murphy-Skeen, his grandchildren Ashleigh, Veronica and Rhett Pippard, Kelley Murphy, Colton Skeen, Kailyn and Braden Murphy, and his brother Jim Murphy, his family as well as many other family members.
Walter is preceded in death by his mother Veronica Ann Miller (Mona) and his father Martin Walter James Murphy.
In Leiu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Dallas Animal Shelter, 1818 N. Westmoreland Road, Dallas, Texas 75212.
