Theron McNair, Jr. Obituary

Theron Bruce McNair, Jr., 79, passed away on March 23, 2022 from a short battle with serious medical issues. As a retired minister, he continued to share his faith and deep love of Jesus to the very end. He was the kind of man that never knew a stranger and loved to tell jokes and laugh. He had a witty sense of humor and an infectious laugh that made him a friend of many.

He was born on January 30, 1943 to Theron Bruce McNair, Sr. and Annetta McNair in Avoca, Texas where he grew up. Bruce is survived by his wife, Patricia; children Tim and Cheryl McNair, Shelly and Shane Ferriera, and Matt and Alicia McNair; siblings Mark and Carol McNair, and Sabrina and Terry Whitmore. He is also survived by so many amazing grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews that there are too many to list. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; brother, David; and sister, Tana.

He attended Hardin-Simmons University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and went on to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary to earn a Masters of Religious Education. From there he began his career as a minister from small town churches like Carbon Baptist Church in Carbon, Texas to larger churches like Mount Franklin Baptist Church  and Coronado Christian Church in El Paso, Texas. For a time he also sold real estate, ran a family owned landscaping and lawn care business and even drove a 40 foot express delivery truck all over the United States with his wife, Pat.

His friends and family will celebrate a life of loving God and serving others on July 15, 2022, 2:30 pm, at the Doss Heritage and Culture Center, 1400 Texas Dr, Weatherford, TX.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent in memory of Bruce McNair to Mission Dignity at Guidestone.org.

Life is but a Stopping Place

Life is but a stopping place,

A pause in what's to be,

A resting place along the road,

to sweet eternity.

We all have different journeys,

Different paths along the way,

We all were meant to learn some things,

but never meant to stay...

Our destination is a place,

Far greater than we know.

For some the journey's quicker,

For some the journey's slow.

And when the journey finally ends,

We'll claim a great reward,

And find an everlasting peace,

Together with the lord

I'm Free

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free

I'm following the path God has laid you see.

I took His hand when I heard him call

I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day

To laugh, to love, to work, to play.

Tasks left undone must stay that way

I found that peace at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void

Then fill it with remembered joy.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss

Oh yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow

I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life's been full, I savored much

Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief

Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.

Lift up your hearts and peace to thee

God wanted me now; He set me free.

God's Garden

God looked around his garden

And found an empty place,

He then looked down upon the earth

And saw your tired face.

He put his arms around you

And lifted you to rest.

God's garden must be beautiful

He always takes the best.

He knew that you were suffering

He knew you were in pain.

He knew that you would never

Get well on earth again.

He saw the road was getting rough

And the hills were hard to climb.

So he closed your weary eyelids

And whispered, "Peace bethine".

It broke our hearts to lose you

But you didn't go alone,

For part of us went with you

The day God called you home.
