Ruth Barnes Matlock, 95, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on April 30, 2017..
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on May 9, 2017 at the Treemont Retirement Community auditorium.Funeral arrangements are being handled by Gateway Funerals and Cremation.
Ruth was born in Memphis, Texas on October 4, 1921. She graduated from the local high school and continued on to receive an undergraduate degree from West Texas State College.
Ruth was married to Gerald W Matlock; they were married for 55 years.
Ruth enjoyed tennis, exercise and teaching her many tennis students. She also spent countless hours babysitting her five grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Lisa Whittemore, her son, Gerald Matlock and her grandchildren Madison Abboud, Sterling Whittemore, Schuyler Whittemore, Nicolai Whittemore, Luca Whittemore, and other family and friends.
Ruth is preceded in death by her father John L Barnes, her mother Clare Goodwin, her spouse Gerald W Matlock, her brother, John L Barnes Jr. and her sister Frankie Stubbs.
The family of Ruth Matlock wishes to thank the marvelous caregiving staff and residents at Treemont for making Ruth's final years full of joy both for her and her family.
