Richard Cook Obituary

Born May 20, 1945 at the Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina to Milton and Pennie Cook passed away on July 29, 2017 at the home of his brother Andy in Lewisville, TX.

Mickey loved Christmas time, was an avid coin collector, jigsaw puzzle worker and master tinkerer who attended Texas City public schools and graduated in 1964. He was employed by the TCISD from 1964 until 1999 when he retired after 35 years of service. Mickey was loved by all whose lives he touched, never met a stranger and had unconditional love for all.

Mickey is preceded in death by his father Milton Landrum Cook and mother Edna Foyle "Pennie" Thomas Cook.

Mickey is survived by his sister Cheryl Sliger and husband Jim of Houston, TX, brother Andy Cook and wife Sherry of Lewisville, TX, sister Debra Stokes of Pearland, TX and brother Bobby Cook and wife Sharon of Santa Fe, TX and nieces and nephews Kathryn Holland of El Paso, TX, Nicholas Turner of Houston, TX, Victoria Whitman of Magnolia, TX, James Cook Jr. of Lewisville, TX, Jon Cook of Dallas, TX, Joey Cook of Sanger, TX, Chip Stokes of Houston, TX, Sarah Stokes of Pearland, TX, Corey DeVries of League City, TX, Jessica Cook of Maple Grove, MN, Chris Cook of Santa Fe, TX, their spouses and many more great nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Mickey's Life will be held at the 1st United Methodist Church located at 317-5th Ave. N., Texas City, TX at 11:00am on August 19, 2017. Mickey will be interred next to his mother and father at the Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery at 3:00pm following the celebration and fellowship with friends and family.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation in Mickey's name be made to a cause of your choice.
