Nohelia Amarilis Martinez Chirinos Eells 1942 – 2023
God welcomed Nohelia home on January 1st, 2023, at the age of 80. Nohelia (Nohe to her siblings) was born on October 29th, 1942, the fourth of nine surviving children to Emilia Chirinos Martinez and Hector Martinez, in Coro, Venezuela, where she was also raised. She studied journalism at the Universidad Central de Venezuela, in Caracas. In 1972, she immigrated to the United States to study English in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. There she met her future husband, Andrew. They were married on August 25th, 1973 at the Catedral de Coro, in Venezuela. They spent the next 30 years in the Ft. Lauderdale area, where they raised two children – Jennifer Emilia and Eric Alexander. She worked for many years as a full-time clerk at American Express, while also being a full-time homemaker. In 2012, Nohelia and Andrew moved to Dallas, TX to be near their first-born grandchild, Gabriela Nohelia Loewen-Eells, and helped to take care of her when she was little. In 2015, they welcomed their second grandchild – Dominic Mateo Farolan Eells. A lifelong, faithful Catholic, family was everything to Nohelia and she particularly delighted in her grandchildren. A fun-loving woman with a great laugh and a broad smile, she loved arts and crafts and also enjoyed playing bingo, the lotto, and slot machines. She was thrifty and loved a bargain, sales, and couponing. Nohelia was hard-working, efficient, held herself and others to high standards, and was a model of persevering and remaining steadfast in the face of life’s challenges. Nohelia is survived, and will be dearly missed, by her husband of 49 years, Andrew; her children and their spouses, Jennifer and Brent (of Dallas, TX), and Eric and Rhoeda (of San Jose, CA); her precious grandchildren, Gabriela and Dominic; her siblings Sonia Vazquez, Toto Martinez, and Nilda Martinez, as well as her many nieces and nephews. We are honored to have shared our lives with her. In Heaven, she is reunited with loved ones who passed on before her: her parents Emilia (Machita) and Hector (Pachito), and siblings Nubia Thielen, Aura Santoyo, Henry Martinez, Mary Martinez, and Reinaldo Martinez.
The Eells family is grateful for your support and condolences as we mourn our loss.
