Nathan “Nate” B. McClain, 82, of Dallas, TX, passed away on June 12, 2025, in hospice care.
Nate was born on November 14, 1942 in Houston, TX, the son of James and Jessie Austin McClain. He is preceded in death by his mother and father and his brother, James McClain; and his beloved dog Snowball. Surviving him is his nephew, Robert McClain and his wife Lisa and their daughter Nichole Cheyenne Dawn McClain. Though he did not have a family of his own, he was known and loved as “Uncle Nate” to many.
Living in the Houston area for 82 years he attended John H. Reagan high school where he was active in the band playing the saxophone and serving as a vice president. He then attended college at Texas Tech University earning his bachelor’s degree while serving in the Airforce ROTC. He was a proud lifelong Red Raider. He later obtained his master’s degree and spent most of his working life in Human Resources Management working at Cameron Oil, Edgewater Methodist Retirement Community and The University of Texas Medical Branch.
Nate had many hobbies and passions including building and flying model airplanes, collecting coins and stamps, reading, jewelry making and golf. He also found enjoyment in collecting family heirlooms and finding ways to help others in their time of need.
Nate will be remembered as a very private man with a “kind soul” willing to sacrifice of himself for the care of others. His life was guided by his Christian faith and he is now in the eternal presence of his Savior, Jesus.
