On Sunday, November 6, 2016, Nancy Joyce Canary St.Romain quietly took her last breath on earth as the outside rain lightly tapped upon the rooftop. She was surrounded by her three children as she crossed. The rain soon became a downpour and suddenly the outside sky lit up with a beautiful double rainbow. We believe that our Irish mother traveled on that rainbow to be welcomed into the kingdom of heaven.
Nancy was born on January 15, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois to Marcella Gibbons Canary and Francis Patrick Canary. She attended St. Mary's college of Notre Dame.
Nancy is survived by her three children Nicole St.Romain Spradling, James Gig St.Romain and Danielle St.Romain and her four grandchildren Marcella Marie St.Romain, Elaina Nicole St.Romain, Cara Canary Spradling, and Gregory Spradling as well as her siblings John Canary, Sheila Madden and Pat McMahon. She also dearly loved her brothers-in-law Jim Madden and Tom McMahon and her nephews and nieces: Chris Madden, Pat Madden, Dan Madden, Pete Madden, Mary Madden, Shaine McMahon Anderson and Collin McMahon. She is now in heaven with her former husband Burnette Gregory St.Romain, her mother Marcella Canary and father Francis Patrick Canary. Nancy now shines down upon us and we will think of her whenever we see a beautiful rainbow.
A viewing for Nancy will be held on Wednesday, Nov9 at St.Monica Catholic Church (Midway and Walnut Hill) at 10am. A funeral mass for Nancy will follow at 11am. Nancy will be buried on Friday near her home town of Chicago next to her mother and father at All Saints Cemetery.
