Mary Jordan Obituary

Mary Louise Jordan passed away peacefully at home on December 22, 2022.  She was born in Calgary Canada, on December 9, 1930, and grew up in southern California.  Mary graduated from Citrus Junior College and Redlands University. Upon graduation, she taught elementary school children on the Edwards Airforce Base where she met her husband, Jerry.  The young couple moved to Dallas where Mary taught in the Dallas ISD before staying home to be a full-time, devoted wife and mother, and later a very fun and hilarious grandmother who in her 70s enjoyed riding the roller coasters at Six Flags with her grandchildren and taking them on Caribbean cruises.

In her younger years, Mary enjoyed playing bridge with couple friends, needlepointing, performing in church plays, and camping with the “camping group” two to three weekends of every month. In her later years, Mary enjoyed traveling the world, swimming in her backyard pool, and reading.  Mary volunteered for the American Cancer Association, the PTA of her daughters’ schools, Camp Fire Girls for her daughters’ groups, and the Suicide and Crisis Center of North Texas where her phone line name given to clients was Shelby Good.  Mary loved her five black cats all named Tom I-V, her dogs Salt and Pepper, fried chicken, Budweiser and Coors beers, Mexican food, and parties with family and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Jerry Niles Jordan.  She is survived by her two daughters, Jill Jordan and Jan Altman, her son-in-law, Billy Altman, her five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, her nephew Patrick Crowell, and her niece Karleen Dawson.
