Lora Jeanne Hartwell, 75, of Dallas, Texas, passed away in her sleep on the morning of August 8, 2024.
Lora was born in Centralia, Illinois on December 12, 1948. Her parents later moved down to Arkansas, where she grew up and graduated from Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. In about 1978, she and her three sons moved to Greenville, MS, where she began her career as a cosmetologist. She loved that work and the family she made with her coworkers and lifelong friends.
After over 25 years of making people beautiful, she moved down to Gulfport, MS in about 2004 where her favorite things were sailing, the beach, her dogs and her gardens.
She could fix or build anything she put her mind to. She had 10 green thumbs and loved her gardens. She loved traveling with her mom, and they could find humor in anything. She could be with her parents, her brothers, her sons, or her extended family or friends and would always share the best laughter.
Lora is survived by two sons, Adam Adams and Ashley Sims, her two brothers, Gary and Stacy Peters and their families, and other family and friends.
She loved her sons more than anything and would do anything for them. In 2013, she moved to Dallas, TX to live with one son and would visit the other in Okmulgee, OK as often as she could. She very much enjoyed leaving the big city to spend time in the small town and enjoy the great outdoors.
Lora is preceded in death by her parents, GL and Jean Peters, her youngest son, Aaron Sims, and husband, Ronald Hartwell.
Her sons will honor her wishes with a simple scattering of her ashes in a private family moment.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to your own favorite charity. As she was an avid lover of pets, your local SPCA may be also be an option. Her sons and brothers wish to thank you all.
