Laura Melissa Williams-Whitaker

Laura Melissa Williams - Whitaker joined the angels in Heaven on January 25, 2020 at age 39 after a three plus year battle with cancer.  Melissa was born March 31,1980 in Dallas,Texas.

From a young age she was a social butterfly and would talk to anyone. She wanted to be a part of everything life had to offer.  Even through the hard times in her life, she was so brave and fought for life. She took all the beatings cancer gave her head on and still smiled.

Her love of the San Antonio Spurs, Atlanta Braves and Dale Earnhardt Jr. made for some friendly rivalries. 

She met the love of her life Cliffton in 2018 and they were married later that year. Even though their time was too short, they loved life to the fullest and had many adventures together.

Melissa was preceded in death by her grandparents and older sister Jennifer Williams.  She is survived by her husband Cliffton Whitaker, parents Wes and Deborah Williams, sisters Marianne Vandiver and Michelle Williams, niece Chelsea Vandiver and nephew Christian Collum.   

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Parkland Hospital and Faith Presbyterian Hospice for the loving care they gave Melissa. We also want to thank all our friends and family for the prayers, texts, calls, meals, donations and support.  We are indeed blessed in countless ways.

A memorial service for Laura Melissa will be held at 10 am February 15 at Freedom Church (in the chapel), 2435 E Hebron Pkwy, Carrollton 75010.
