Joseph Bromley, Jr. Obituary

JOSEPH BROMLEY JR., 74, passed away at home after several months of a severe illness.  He was comforted by the loving care of his wife Nancy, sons Austin and Ryan and numerous friends.  They were residents of Grapevine and Colleyville, Texas, since 1997 and had previously lived in Southern California. Joseph and Nancy were also part-time residents of Creede, Colorado, where they enjoyed the scenery of the Rocky Mountains and the friendship of many.

Joseph was born in Newton, North Carolina, the son of Joseph Bromley Sr. and Katherine Jones Bromley. The family later moved to Canyonville, Oregon where Joseph spent his formative years and recalled many fond memories. He and brother Jay worked in the family grocery store, The Village Market. While the work was hard, it instilled in him a work ethic that lasted a lifetime.

Joseph was proud to have been a Vietnam Veteran and served in the United States Navy from 1968 -1972. He was stationed on Whidbey Island, Washington with both the 145 and 52 Attack Squadrons. His job as an aviation mechanic led to deployments on both the Kitty Hawk and USS Ranger aircraft carriers.

In 1985 Joseph married the love of his life, Nancy Jo Noel. Their sons Austin Joseph and Ryan Noel completed their family in 1989 and 1990 respectively.

Joseph was a loving and supportive husband and an exceptional role model for his children. He exemplified strong moral character and taught the importance of careful decision making. They shared a love of camping, four-wheeling, motorcycle riding, jet skiing and fixing anything with a motor.

Joseph was an entrepreneur operating his own glass business, Regal Reflections, in Canoga Park, CA. Later he moved into telecommunications operations with Verizon where he retired in 2008 at the age of 58.

Joseph lived life to the fullest. He and Nancy had 16 wonderful retirement years traveling the United States and abroad.  They loved RVing, fishing, ATV riding in the California Sand Dunes and the Colorado Rocky Mountains while enjoying the company of family and many dear friends.  He was very intelligent and creative, even building his own helicopter. Joseph was always working on projects and mastered the art of weaving, stained glass, jewelry making, wood working and landscaping.

Joseph always had a smile and was loved by all who knew him. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was quick-witted and so considerate of others.  His willingness to help others and his perseverance in accomplishing any task made others seek his advice and counsel. He enjoyed spending time with his family, a daily martini, and a good laugh around the firepit. His generous spirit will be missed but the cherished memories we carry in our hearts make us blessed to have known him.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 39 years Nancy, sons Austin and Ryan, sisters Janice Peluso (Robert), Susan Corke, brothers Jaylon (Olivia) and Jim (Luanne) and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held for family and friends at Fellowship of the Parks Church in Grapevine in January.
