Jonathan Wilder Obituary

Jonathan Eugene Wilder passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2019. He was born on January 10, 1973 in Dallas, Texas. He was the third of four sons born to Jimmy Wilder, Sr and Suzanne Wilder. Jonathan attended George W. Truett Elementary, Henry W. Longfellow Academy, Skyline High School and Bryan Adams High School. He served in the Boy Scouts of America from age 7 to 18, achieving the Arrow of Light and the rank of Eagle Scout. He was also a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow, being duly honored as a youth.

In 1988, Jonathan began his long battle against renal failure. This eventually led to his first kidney transplant in 1995. He spent 6 months recovering from the operation, then decided to pursue a career in law enforcement.

Jonathan attended the East Texas Police Academy at Kilgore College. Upon graduation, he worked for the Carrollton Police Department for 2 years. His desire was to serve in the Texas Department of Public Service, but he was unable to complete the physical testing due to his renal illness.
Jonathan decided to pursue other career opportunities and began working in the fast-casual dining industry with his older brother Jimmy. He then worked for many years in the car wash industry with his younger brother Nathan, before moving to the Houston area to help Buc-ee's Convenience Stores establish their cars wash efforts. After 5 years with Buc-ee's, he moved back to the DFW area to be near his family.

Jonathan was a son, brother and uncle to ten nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father Jimmy Lee Wilder, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Suzanne Elaine White Wilder, his brothers: Jimmy Lee Wilder, Jr. and Cordelia and their children: Taylor Rodriguez, Hayden Luke Wilder, Quinten Louis Wilder, and Brianna Martina Wilder; Anthony Edward Wilder and Sarah and their children: Caroline Grace Wilder, Elijah Andrew Wilder, Gideon James Wilder and Titus Levi Wilder; Nathan Andrew Wilder and his daughter Brooklynn Rene'e Wilder; and Jerry Hoover and Monica White Hoover and their daughter Emmary Hoover.
