James Edward McCarthy

Dallas - James Edward McCarthy age 96, was born June 24th, 1921 to Martin F.
McCarthy and Helen Nelligan, in Bangor, Maine. He died Monday December 4th,
2017 at Faith Hospice in Dallas. He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Carol Ann
Cunningham. They were blessed with eight children; Pat, Jim, Julia, John, Dan,
Theresa, Paul, Robert, and seventeen grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Jim graduated from John Bapst High School, University of Oklahoma and Abilene
Christian University with a Masters Degree in Business Administration. During
World War II he served in the Army Air Corp stationed in Reno, Nevada. He
worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for 30 years and with ICAO
stationed in Amman, Jordan and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
His love of travel took Jim and Carol around the world and throughout the United
States. He loved sports especially the Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis Billikens.
Jim enjoyed many years watching and coaching all his children in various sports.
Jim was an avid reader and writer with several publications in trade magazines.
He had a passion for dogs and cats.
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 7th at 1:00 pm at St. Rita
Catholic Church, 12525 Inwood Rd, Dallas, TX. 75244.
