James Hogan Obituary

Clay was born in Columbus, Ohio, July 18, 1926 to Annettie and James Hogan. He entered heaven March 9, 2017. His passion for music developed early. By age 13 he was playing the saxophone and clarinet in a band and continued until he was 19. Jazz was always his favorite. A member of "The Greatest Generation", he served in the navy during WWII teaching electronics. Clay attended Ohio State University and earned a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering which enabled him to enjoy a distinguished career. He was with Collins Radio from 1952-1969. He retired as a partner with Glynnn Davis in Nova Magnetics. A man of multiple talents and interests, Clay enjoyed not only jazz but attending the symphony as well, playing tennis with his buddies, flying his plane, and spending time in Aspen during the summers and ski seasons. He was a long time member of the Dallas Ski Club and the Dallas 200. In 2001 Clay married the love of his life, Yvonne Watkins. Together they traveled extensively - Clay especially liked cruises- and they were active in the Wedding Ring Class at University Park Methodist Church. But most of all they enjoyed spending quality time with their extended family and many friends. Clay's intelligence and charm will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne, sons Christopher D. Hogan, spouse: Michele and James C. Hogan III, spouse: Susan, Craig and Gina Morgan and Tony Watkins. Three grandchildren, one granddaughter-in-law and five great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the University Park Methodist Church, Saturday, March 25, 2017, 1:00 pm.
