James (Jim) Melton Herold, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed from this life to a better place on November 20, 2019 at the age of 79.
Jim was born on November 14, 1940, the only child born to parents Rosalie Coe and Earl Melton Herold in Dallas TX, and Jim remained in the area all his life. Jim graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, and then obtained a degree in History from Southern Methodist University. Upon his graduation, he worked in accounting for a local car dealership and began preparing to earn his CPA. After obtaining his Certified Public Accountant license on his first try in January, 1973, Jim excelled in his field for the next 31 years working as a partner in a number of accounting firms and later obtaining his Certified Financial Planner designation to further his capacity of service to his clients. Jim officially retired in December, 2004.
Jim is survived by his wife, Diane Worley and his daughters Amy Herold and Stacy Rowe and grandchildren Ethan, Matthew and Gwendolyn Rowe, of Frisco, TX.
Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Jim had a number of interests, including cultivating the perfect fish tank and playing the perfect hand of poker. After his retirement he remained active in the financial and accounting world, always keeping a keen eye on the stock market. One of Jim's greatest joys was watching his grandchildren grow and visiting with them often. Throughout his life, Jim was well known and respected by all of his friends and colleagues. He could always be counted on to provide a witty joke as he had a sense of humor in all situations. Jim was universally described as kind, generous and welcoming by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Above all, Jim loved his family deeply. He will be incredibly missed by all of his family and friends.
A memorial celebrating Jim’s life will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Gateway Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. All are invited afterward to Stacy Rowe's home in Frisco to share memories and a bite to eat.
