James Cunningham Obituary
James Carrol Cunningham (Papa, Pops, Boss, Superman), 74 years old of Hideaway, TX, passed away on April 9, 2016.
The burial will be held at 9:30 am on Tuesday April 12th at the Dallas - Ft. Worth National Cemetary. Lloyd McCaskill of Willow Brook Baptist Church in Tyler, TX will be officiating. The Memorial Service will follow the burial at Willow Brook Baptist Church in Tyler, TX at 2:00pm. All arrangements are being handled by Gateway Funerals and Cremation Services in Dallas, TX where visitation will be held from 6:30pm to 8:30pm on Monday April 11th.
James was born in Bowie, TX on October 9th, 1941. He graduated from Bowie High School in 1960 and was married to Patricia Ann Stockard on August 3rd, 1962; they were married 53 years.
James spent 10 years of his life serving as a pastor and most of the remainder of his career working independently as an oilman. He enjoyed time with his close-knit family more than anything else. He did not have hobbies because he did not think much about himself but rather spent his life serving the interests of those he loved. He was actively involved in his local church and in spreading the truth of Jesus Christ wherever he went. He was truly unashamed of the Gospel.
James is survived by spouse Pat, daughter Shelly and son-in-law Tim, grandson Ryan and granddaughter-in-law Kailey, great-grandson Haddon, and a new great-grandbaby on the way who will be named after him. He loved his family so well as he did everyone that God brought into his life. All would agree that he made his life here count.
James is preceded in death by his parents Verlon and Dee Cunningham and his grandparents Sally and Gardner White.
