George who had just turned 80, passed away on Monday, August 9 after years of Alzheimers altering his life. His family includes Cris, his wife of 51 years, daughter Dana recently married in Hawaii to David Goodnuff, son Mike and three very special grandchildren, Camryn, Garrett and Kane and their mom, Deanna. We will all miss our G'pa, also his brother Bill of Klamath Falls, Oregon.
George was born in Los Angeles but lived in various parts of the state before graduating from Newport Harbor HS then UCLA with a Business degree leading to jobs with General Motors, Anaconda Wire and Cable and finally Atlantic Richfield. His relocations in California were a prelude to the moves with ARCO. We started in California, then to Connecticut, So. Carolina, Colorado, back to Calif, then toTexas, Perth Australia and Surabaya Indonesia. All were fantastic learning experiences. We returned to Frisco, population 5000 ! in 1994 to Stonebriar and George's favorite part of Texas the Stonebriar Country Club and GOLF GOLF GOLF and so many wonderful friends.
In January of this year George needed more help to do all the things we take for granted. Fortunately many months ago we saw that the Cottages at Chapel Creek, a memory care center, was being built. It turned out to be a beautiful facility and he became the first resident. Being the first resident lends itself to becoming very spoiled. The Administration and Caregivers are so caring and took such good care of him. Cris will be forever grateful for their hugs and smiles. Last Monday on top of the care at the Cottages, arrived the "crew" from Faith Presbyterian Hospice. They only ended up being there for one day but it was as if we had known them forever. They were so special. George and all of the residents are treated with such respect and kindness. George was a great husband, father and friend and we will all miss him so very much.
