Edgar Manuel Lecuna Cañizares, 80 years of age, passed on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Plano.
Edgar was born April 15, 1940 in Caracas, Venezuela to the late Edgar Lecuna Baldó and Alicia Beatriz Cañizares. He was the oldest of six children, two preceded him in death. Edgar was educated in the Escuela Naval del Perú in La Punta, Callao, Perú.
Edgar married Celia Coromoto Rodríguez Guerra in 1975 and four daughters were born from this union. The family moved to the United States in 1989 where he worked for Seacor Marine until his retirement. He was an avid mathematician and shared his knowledge of math, science, and statistics teaching students at the local community college. Also, Edgar was a member of The National Association for Amateur Radio and achieved the highest licensing level of Amateur Extra License. He contacted a vast number of amateur radio operators from all over the world through Morse code.
Edgar loved working with wood and specialized in building birdhouses which he sold to residents and family members. He loved spending time with family and had an ample repertoire of funny jokes which he loved to share. His infectious sense of humor and eternal optimism could lighten any mood. He was a faithful father who loved, cheered, and supported his children and grandchildren. They know that he loved them.
Edgar leaves his daughters, Morella Alicia Lecuna-Bernard, María Luisa Lecuna, Ana María Lecuna, and Cecilia Margarita Moon; four grandchildren – Michael Peter Bitgood, Catalina Jade Moon, Scarlet Elizabeth Moon, and Anabella Pearl Moon; and three siblings, Pedro Bernardo Lecuna, María Teresa Lecuna, and José Gregorio Lecuna, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
