Danilo "Danny" Llanto Obituary

Danilo “Danny” Gurrea Llanto, 79, of Carrollton, Texas, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, February 14, 2021.  A service to honor his life will be held with immediate family at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Gateway Funerals and Cremation, 17390 Preston Rd., Dallas, TX 75252.

Danny was born on September 10, 1941 in Carcar, Philippines.  He was the third of twelve children born to his parents Rizalina Gurrea Llanto and Jose Tenchavez Llanto.  He graduated from Southwestern University in 1966.  On August 26, 1968 he married the former Lolita Gloria Ladia.  Shortly after their marriage Lolita moved to New York City, NY for a medical technologist internship.  After being separated for a year, Danny joined Lolita in the United States and they started their family life together in Detroit, Michigan in 1970 where they both worked as medical technologists for different hospitals.

Throughout the years Danny was known for his generosity, humour, and love of jazz music.  He was considered unquestionably loyal to his closest friends and a conscientious and diligent worker by his employers.  In 2002, his last employer before retirement, Riverview Hospital in Detroit, commended him for his life saving efforts and persistence in paging a doctor in order to give critical lab results for a homebound patient.  Because of his resolve to get hold of the doctor even after numerous unanswered pages, the patient was eventually transported to the hospital just in time to receive life saving treatment.

Danny’s last stage of retirement life began with his move from Troy, Michigan to Carrollton, Texas in 2012.  This proved to be a greatly enjoyable time for Danny because of his proximity to his youngest daughter and grandchildren and also because of the easy access to a variety of authentic Mexican restaurants, his favorite food.  His most pleasurable moments were times spent with family around meals.

Danny is survived by his wife, Lolita, his siblings Lydia, Antonio, Jaime, and Helen, and his daughters, Laraleen and her husband Adrian, and Lisa and her husband Jeremy, and his seven grandchildren, Hannah, Julian, Jerick, Heartlyn, Ladiah, Layah, and Lara Jean, and his numerous nieces and nephews.

Psalm 32

Of David. A Maskil.

1 Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. 2 Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. 3 For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. 5 I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. 6 Therefore let everyone who is godly offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found; surely in the rush of great waters, they shall not reach him. 7 You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance. 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. 9 Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you. 10 Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord. 11 Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!
