A memorial service to celebrate Dan's life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday September 28th, 2019 at Gateway Funerals and Cremation located at 17390 Preston Rd., Ste. 310; Dallas, Texas.
Dan is survived by his wife Reta Gene Parrish, his daughter Lauryn Brewer, son Dan Parrish III, and grandchildren Caitlin Brewer, Christopher Brewer, Joshua Parrish, Reanna DiPaolo, Jennifer Easton and Wayne Henricks; his sister Billie Joe Carmichael and many nieces and nephews, cousins and family.
This list of people touched by his life include his numerous friends in the Houston and Dallas Model A Ford Clubs; his church family, neighbors and many children, scouts and students he taught and shared his stories with. A member of the US Navy during both WWII and Korea he was both a blue water sailor and then a radio technician.
During his working career he managed retail stores, was a stockbroker and finally a high school teacher of “distributive education” which allowed him to get jobs for kids while drinking coffee with the local business leaders in the Beaumont - Port Arthur, Texas area where the family lived for many years. He was a skilled carpenter and cabinet maker, restoring an old home in Beaumont. In retirement he toured the country with his wife. On one outing Reta bought a 1929 Model A Roadster and then he found a Model T Ford touring car. Their friends in the Golden Triangle A’s and the Houston A’s made for many great tours in the hobby he enjoyed for 30 years.
