Cynthia Hutchison, a sixth-generation Texan, was born on November 5, 1951, to Don and Margaret Hanks in Abilene, TX, and died on February 14, 2025, in Dallas, TX. Cynthia attended Abilene public schools and McMurry College. After moving to Dallas in the early 1970s, Cynthia met the love of her life, Sam Hutchison. They married on November 29, 1980, and lived in Dallas until they built their dream home on the side of a hill near the Guadalupe River in Kerrville, TX, in 2000.
Cynthia had a 30 plus year career in merchandising and selling cosmetics, first for Revlon and then 25 plus years for L’Oréal. Cynthia’s and Sam’s favorite vacations were to Red River, NM, where they enjoyed numerous spring and summer trips.
Cynthia loved home-baked lemon squares; feeding birds, black squirrels, and deer that thrived on her few acres in the Hill Country. After her husband’s death, she ventured out to learn Mah Jongg with what became her great Kerrville friends.
Cynthia was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her younger sister, Jana Bailey. She is survived by her brother, Ken Hanks (Beth), her nephews, Peter Hanks (Kristin), Scott Hanks; Brandon Bailey (Sally), and their children and brother-in-law, Mark Bailey.
A memorial will be held at 1:00 pm on March 13, 2025, at The Church of the Incarnation Episcopal, Dallas, 3966 McKinney Ave. Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be made to the Church of the Incarnation (Incarnation.org), the Susan G. Komen Foundation (Komen.org), or the charity of your choice.
