Andrew Gonzales age 90, passed away peacefully in Carrollton, Texas, surrounded by his wife, son, daughter and one of his granddaughters on December 20, 2017. He has gone to join his siblings, 4 brothers and 3 sisters, his hunting buddies and many other loved ones. They will all rejoice in welcoming him home.
He was born in Bayard, NE February 4, 1927 and met the love of his life when she was just 7 years old. They were married in 1948 after he returned from Europe where he served with great pride, under General Patton in WWII. He was a devoted and beloved husband.
He worked hard as an electrical mechanic for the federal government so that he could provide for his family and always be sure to have a "little nickle" for his grankids on their birthdays. He always signed his cards with, "you keep smiling. OK? OK."
In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting pheasant and ducks and befriending anyone he met. He loved people and never wanted to let an opportunity to talk to anyone pass him by, so he learned as many languages as he could. He spoke English, Spanish, German, Italian, and Souix Indian, often in the same sentence to the amusement and amazement of others.
He leaves behind his wife of nearly 70 years, Frances (Perez) Gonzales; his son, David Andrew Gonzales and wife Sharon; his daughter, Laura Kay Ornales; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren (soon to be 9); and his first great great grandson expected early next year. He was well loved and will be greatly missed. We'll see him again soon, "Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise".
Please remember him in your prayers! Services will wait until Frances is ready to join him, she has years of memories to share on his behalf, before they are reunited for eternity.
