Teresa Rose "Terry" (Panetta) Whiteman, 84, of Wylie, TX passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 13, 2018. She had been in declining health recently due to COPD.
Terry was born in Stonewood, WV on April, 2, 1933 to Larry and Elizabeth Panetta.
She is survived by her two daughters, Robin McGary and husband Gene of Wylie, TX and Kelly Fontaine of Stonewood, WV and her companion Mark Basista of Stafford, VA; three sisters, Nikki Piegaro of Wylie, TX, Gene Emmel of Tennessee, and Teena Biafore of Ohio. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Michael McGary and wife Angel of Wylie, TX, Tara Huggins and husband Derek of Wylie, TX, Tabitha Fontaine of Clarksburg, WV, and Ryan Adams and wife Joanie of Wylie, TX; great-grandchildren, Jesse, Sydney, Jaycee, Alyssa, Michaela, Jaedyn, and Xandeur; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Jim Panetta, Larry Panetta, and Mary Banish; and nieces, Brenda Banish-Wilson and Shannon Emmel.
Terry was a well-respected employee of the City of Stonewood, WV from 1971 to 1994, serving in the positions of Recorder, Treasurer, City Clerk and Secretary of the Sanitation Board. She had also proudly served as Secretary of the Harrison County League of Mayors. Terry retired to West Palm Beach, FL in 1995. In 2005, she moved to TX to live with her daughter, Robin and son-in-law, Gene.
Terry enjoyed spending time with her family, playing games with her great-grandchildren, sewing, ironing, working puzzles of all kinds, and watching her favorite talent competition shows.
Her wish was to be cremated. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
