Michelle Ann Vierus Garcia, aged 41, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2016 at Clements University Hospital in Dallas after a twenty-month battle with glioblastoma. She was not ready to leave her family and valiantly fought her disease until the very end. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones.
Michelle was born Aug. 10, 1974 in Houston, the daughter of David S. Vierus and Ruby L. Vierus. She attended Cypress Creek HS, graduating in 1992. She was a gifted musician and played the clarinet in her school band. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in English from Sam Houston State Univ. in 1997, and later earned a master's degree in education from Stephen F. Austin State Univ. in 2005. Michelle taught English at North Shore HS, focusing on the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program.
She met the love of her life, Edwin M. Garcia, in 2003 and married in La Grange in 2004. She welcomed with joy her daughter Zoe Marie in April 2006. Michelle was a wonderful and caring wife and mother living in Frisco for the last nine years of her life. She was very involved in her daughter's elementary school, piano lessons, volleyball, and a myriad of other activities. Michelle was generous, fiercely devoted to her loved ones, and was willing to give the shirt off of her back to anyone in need.
She is survived by her husband Edwin, daughter Zoe, mother Ruby, sister Stephanie Engelking, and special friends Anja Keric, Becky Davis, and Jerry Walter. She was preceded in death by her father David in May 1997.
A funeral mass will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church at 2:30 PM on Sat. May 21. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament at Our Lady of the Angels Monastery.
