Margaret Tascar Obituary

Margaret Lee Tascar (Byram), known as Maggie, Aummie or Grammi to those who loved her, gave her last hugs on December 4, 2017 at the age of 93. And what an amazing 93 years they were.

Maggie was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 6th, 1924 to Martha Nelson Byram (Doherty) and Wallace Boyd Byram. She had one sibling, Robert Becker Byram (deceased). Maggie lived most of her adult life in Shaker Heights, Ohio before moving to Overland Park, Kansas and then Dallas, Texas during the last 18 years of her life. Maggie had a long career, unusual for her generation, as a childcare professional. She worked for over 40 families in her lifetime, cherishing each and every child that was under her care.

Maggie's own family began when she met Joseph (Peppy) Eugene Tascar through mutual friends. Peppy and Maggie married on November 23, 1950 and had two children who they adored, Sharon Ann Dolin (husband Jack, both deceased 2002) and Cindy Lee Zwick (husband David) of Dallas, Texas. Maggie's grandchildren, Kim Dolin, Jennifer Dolin Lowrey and husband Casey, Benjamin Joseph Zwick and wife Sandy, and Ali Zwick Gibson and husband Scott, consider themselves lucky to have had a grandmother with such a loveable, youthful spirit, and faith in God. Maggie in turn was an enthusiastic great-grandmother to Hallie DeGreen (9), Katherine Elizabeth Lowrey (7), and Jackson Philip Lowrey (2).

No matter what the setting, Maggie was always the favorite. Even in her retirement community, the staff would retreat to her room for a break and to get advice from Maggie about their children or love lives. Like everyone, they were drawn to her graciousness and delightful outlook on life.

It is particularly heartbreaking to the family to lose Maggie during the holidays, when she would have loved eating licorice, cookies and spending time with her family. They will celebrate this season with stories of her generosity and how she never met a stranger. The family asks that you join them in celebrating Maggie by sharing your memories of her life with them via cards to Mrs. Cindy Zwick 3717 W Beverly Dr. Dallas, TX 75209. A celebration of life will take place in Cleveland on May 11, 2018 11am at Knollwood Chapel.
