MESECKE, Curtis Mayfield, 83, of Fairview, TX, formally of Plano, TX passed away May 13, 2016 at his home after a yearlong battle with cancer. A beloved husband, father and grandfather, Curtis was born on July 18, 1932 in Lowake, TX to Minnie Jeschke Mesecke and Richard Mesecke. He was pre-deceased by his parents, his sister Lorene Davis and brothers Nolan, Milton and Leslie. Curtis is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann Strahan Mesecke and their children Martin Philip Mesecke and wife Barbara of Oxford, MS and Mitzi Mesecke Fritzke of Allen, TX, granddaughters Ashley Mesecke Cox and husband Trent, of Memphis, TN, Whitney Fritzke of Allen, TX, Laura Mesecke of San Francisco, CA, Alyssa Fritzke of Allen, TX, one nephew and five nieces. His granddaughters brought him joy beyond description and greatly enriched his life.
Curtis grew up on a ranch near Paint Rock, TX where he rode his horse to a one room school house. In high school he enjoyed playing football on a 6 man team. After high school he served in the U.S. Army, assigned to the signal corps forces in France.
Curtis worked at Pioneer Airlines while attending night classes at Southern Methodist University majoring in Math. After more than 30 years he retired from Texas Instruments where he was awarded several patents for his research work. After retirement Curtis enjoyed serving his community by volunteering for AARP during tax season for about 15 years.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at DFW National Cemetery on Monday, May 23. The family will receive friends afterward at Watters Crossing clubhouse, Allen, TX.
