Clay Curry Obituary

Clay Norman Curry, 1937 to 2017
Clay Norman Curry passed away from this world peacefully on June 15, 2017 @ T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Dallas, TX. Clay was born to Jack B and Lillie S Curry on August 5, 1937 in Houston, TX. Clay is survived by his wife of 35 years Jimmie Lee Curry of Dallas, TX, brother-in-law Russell W Thornton of Jasper, TX, brother and sister-in-law Donny and Bitsy Richards of Dallas, TX, son Michael A and wife Maria L Curry, of Houston, TX, son Jack David and wife Kathy L Curry of Friendswood, TX, and daughter Clayleene E and husband Randall L Odom of Magnolia, TX. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Andree, Patrick, Andrew, Kirstie, Kelsie, Julia, Rylan, Kaghan, and Irelan, and 3 great grandchildren Tanner, Kaisley and Beaux. Clay was preceded in death by his parents and Sister Sue M Thornton.
Clay graduated from Reagan High School in Houston, TX in 1955, and attended Hardin Simmons College on a basketball scholarship. He enjoyed golf, fishing, most sports and traveling. Clay and Jimmie lived on Nevis and St Kitts in the Dutch West Indies from May of 1995 to September of 1999.
Clay worked for Delta Airlines @ Hobby Airport and George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, TX and Dallas Fort Worth Airport in Dallas, TX. He retired from Delta Airlines in 1992 after 29 years of service, and later worked for Marriott Hotels in Dallas, TX for 15 years until late 2016.
As everyone knows, Clay's disposition was not always cheerful and patient, nor was he a fan of getting older. When asked by his granddaughter Andree what she should call him, he said "Clay". Andree responded with, how about "Grumpy", an adaption of grandpa, which Clay clearly did not approve of. After a few moments of uneasy silence, Clay said "I like it", and Grumpy it was!
The family would like to express their extreme appreciation to the nurses and staff of (1) Irving's Baylor Scott White Hospital and (2) the T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Clay's name to the T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center by following the link to https://www.prescs.org/give-now/ and specifying that your gift benefit the T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center Capital Campaign as a Tribute to Clay Curry. This most worthwhile facility is doing amazing work for their patients. Their care and concern for Clay and his family during his final days was an answer to prayer, and will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life will be held @ the Chapel @ T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 12477 Merit Drive, Dallas, TX, 75251 @ 2:00pm, Saturday, June 24, 2017.
