Michael Anthony Knapik, age 56, died peacefully in his sleep on October 24, 2019 at his home in Garland, Texas after a long battle with cancer.
Michael was born on September 28, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois, to Richard and Nancy (Flood) Knapik. He loved his family and leaves behind a sister (Cathy), nephew (David), niece (Angela), wife of 37 years (Julie), two daughters (Amber & Lauren), four grandchildren (Erin, Briana, Aaron II & Christopher), adoptive parents (in law) (Nancy & Larry Baker and Bob Skelton) and many more beloved family members and friends. He will be remembered for his generous nature, humor, and dedication.
Michael, aka Mike / Mickey / Pooh Bear, was notorious for cracking jokes during inappropriate times and helping others. Whether it was making someone laugh when he deemed the situation too serious, giving someone his last 20 bucks or helping them get a job, Michael was truly a good person that had a soft spot for people or animals in need. Life was not easy for him but, he worked hard for everything he had and ensured his wife and daughters were happy. He was a self- proclaimed Hippie that was a child at heart. His infectious laughter and optimism will be missed.
He is proceeded in death by his Grandparents (Anton & Mary), Father (Richard), Uncles (Ed and Gene), Mother (Nancy), Mother In Law, Friend and Mentor (Judy), Nephew (Rick), and other beloved family members and friends that reunited with Michael when he made it home. Michael had faith and enjoyed reading the bible and was rarely seen without a cross around his neck. He is home and we anxiously await being reunited one day.
