Kent Wilson Obituary

Kent Elder Wilson was born March 26th, 1974 in Dallas, Texas to Donald and Janice Wilson. He grew up in Lake Highlands and attended Lake Highlands High School.

Kent knew from a young age that he wanted to work with electronics. After graduating from DeVry University with a degree in Electrical Engineering, he worked for Nokia for more than 15 years as the Lifecycle and Product Quality Manager and also received the Nokia Global Outstanding Achievement Award for his contributions to the company. Kent moved on to Microsoft as their Quality and Lifecycle Manager for over 2 years followed by Sonim Technologies for 6 years as the Senior Director responsible for Global Repair Operations and Quality. For the last 2 years Kent worked as the Head of Operations for Spacetalk, where he built and led the North American operations team for Customer Care, Repair, Forward Logistics and Quality.

After meeting his one true love in 1993, Kent and Ashley were married April 10th, 1999 and began building their beautiful life together. They began growing their family in 2008 welcoming their miracle son, Ben into the world. A few years later in 2013, they added their second miracle son, Blake. Kent was a loving and involved father whether he was cheering from the sidelines or was coaching the team. Kent was a fitness buff, loved to ski, loved hanging out and traveling with his friends, and taking his boys camping and four-wheeling. He was especially good at Nerf gun battles. Kent was also talented at smoking brisket, which truly melted in your mouth. The family always requested it for special occasions and on holidays, so he rose at 3am to ensure perfection was achieved. Kent was the epitome of a handy man and could repair most anything. Kent was always up for anything fun, even if it was a short drive to Buckee’s. Life was to be lived and Kent and Ashley spent 30 incredible years together - living a fun, adventuresome life built on a foundation of love.

In April of 2022, Kent was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Kent fought fearlessly through 17 chemo treatments and a phase 1 trial. He battled for the last year but in the end lost his battle and went to meet his Lord and Savior on May 29th, 2023. He was a warrior in the face of adversity and never complained or became bitter, ever to the end. Just as before his diagnosis, he amazed us with his strength and positivity. Kent Elder Wilson passed comfortably at home surrounded by family and his best friends.

Kent is survived by his wife Ashley and sons Ben and Blake; mother Janice Wilson; sister Wendi Hart and husband David and their children Connor, Carson, Chandler, and Caitlyn; and a plethora of family and friends. Kent is preceded in death by his father Donald Wilson.

The Memorial Service will be Thursday, June 15th at 2pm at The Cross Church in Wylie, Texas. Friends and family are invited to a reception at the Wilson home immediately following the Memorial Service.
