Janice Ellen (Rademacher) Brown of Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully on December 28, 2023.
Janice was born on July 15, 1935 in Queens, New York, the oldest child of Edgar John and Lillian Marie (Wesselhoft) Rademacher.
Janice was an honor graduate from Roslyn High School in 1952, after which she attended Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York. She was consistently on the Dean’s List and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and Psychology in 1957.
In 1956, Janice met Donald “Gene” Brown on a blind date in Long Island, New York. It was love at first sight, and after a brief courtship they were married in 1957 in Roslyn, New York.
In 1957, Gene accepted a position with Magnolia/Mobil Oil, and Janice and he moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana where their married life began. They later moved to the Lake Highlands area of Dallas, Texas where they raised their family and lived the remainder of their lives.
Janice was a very active community member serving on a number of boards. Over the years, she served as President of United Methodist Women at both Lake Highlands United Methodist Church and Highland Park United Methodist Church, as well as on auxiliaries for Bethlehem Center, Methodist Dallas Medical Center, and CC Young. She was also a member of P.E.O.
Gene and Janice had the opportunity to travel to Europe and across the United States, spending much of their leisure time in their beloved Breckenridge, Colorado, which has now become a favorite for their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Janice is survived by her daughters Diana Brown French of Dallas, TX, and Karen Brown Morgan (Jeff) of Dallas, TX; and sons Don Brown (Shara) of Sedona, AZ, and Paul Brown (Gabriela) of Southlake, TX. She was a devoted Nana to Michael, Christy (Thomas), Matthew, Catherine (Thomas), Christopher, Austin (Ashley), Allison, Isabella, Sofia, Cameron, and Alexa; and great grandmother to Mackenzie, Brooke and Harper. Her loving husband of 66 years succeeded her in death on December 31, 2023. She was preceded in death by parents Edgar and Lillian, and brother Paul.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Lake Highlands United Methodist Church at 11:00am on Monday, January 22, 2024, followed by a military honor service at 2:30pm at DFW National Cemetery.
