Robert Ardell Wian, died unexpectedly on February 12, 2018 at the age of 79 at his home in Dallas, TX
Bob is survived by his children; Amy Wian of Ponte Vedra Beach, FLA, Kent Wian of Schuylerville, NY ; sister Fran Wertz of Charlotte, NC . Grandchildren, Cameron & Alayna Wian of Schuylerville, NY, Robert Shinnick of Jacksonville, FLA and Tanner Hagen of Ponte Vedra Beach, FLA; Nephews Mark Cowher of Huntersville,NC ; Michael Cowher of Hughestown, PA and Niece Christina Welch of Mooresville, NC
Bob was born in Lamar, PA May 10,1938 to Hilda Wian and was lovingly raised by his Uncle and Aunt Gerald and Vera Stover. He was a 1956 graduate of Waterloo(NY) Central School where he participated in Cross Country, Track and Basketball.
He served in the U.S. Army reserves and worked in the hospitality industry for many years in Rochester, NY and in the Dallas, Tx area where he resided for the past 45 years. Most recently he was employed for 22 years by Sampson Resources and Publishing in Dallas.
He was active as a runner and then as a competitive cyclist including qualifying for Nationals in the Senior Games. A proud member of the Covenant Church, he enjoyed the family and friend network that that provided him. He will be remembered by family and friends as an individual that was extremely kind, thoughtful and positive.
A remembrance service was held at Sampson Resources on February 22nd.
