Richard Thedford Obituary
Richard "Dick" Thedford, 69, of Lewisville, Texas, passed away on January 21, 2017, after battling Alzheimer's Disease.
The memorial service will be held at 11AM, February 4th, 2017 at Gateway Funerals & Cremation located at 17390 Preston Rd., Suite 310, Dallas, TX 75252. James Clinkscales will be officiating.
Richard was born in Tyler, Texas on March 31st, 1947. He graduated from Robert E Lee High School, then proudly served our country in Vietnam as a member of the US ARMY. He received his Bachelors & Masters Degrees in Education from East Texas State University.
Richard began his career at Tyler Junior College as a Drafting Instructor. He worked as a Teacher & Administrator for Plano ISD for nearly 20 years. A lifetime Dallas Cowboys fan, he enjoyed chili cook offs, dirt bikes, spending time with friends and family, and loved being on the water. Always outgoing and friendly, he loved talking to anyone and constantly made new friends.
Richard is survived by sister Gale, sister Trina Tunnel & family, son Blake, wife Meghan and their daughter Vera Mae, and daughter Lauren.
Richard is preceded in death by sister Jana McCullar, Father Jack Duane, mother Mary Jewel, grandmother Arrie Seacrest Robertson, and grandfather Jewel King Robertson.
Richard's body was donated to UT Southwestern Medical School for research. It is our hope that, even in death, he may continue to teach and help others.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Association. The family of Richard Thedford wishes to thank Elmcroft of Vista Ridge & Ardent Hospice for their loving care.
