Maxie Hardin went into the arms of the Lord on February 21, 2018, at the age of 96. She was born on January 31, 1922, to Harry Wilson and Josephine Beulah Wafer in Gilbert, LA. She graduated from Gilbert High School in Gilbert, LA and Memphis Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse. Most of her career was spent working as a Registered Nurse. At the end of her working life she worked for the Federal Government inspecting long term care facilities. Even in retirement she maintained her nursing license and helped care for her friends and family.
In her sparetime she enjoyed playing bridge and crocheting. She also worked with her church when she resided at Cedar Creek Lake - First Presbyterian Church of Mabank, Texas. When she moved to Dallas she attended Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Hardin and her son, George Edward Hardin II as well as her five sisters, two brothers and her mother and father. She is survived by a daughter, Jo Basel and two grandsons - Steven Taylor, his wife Kristi and their two daughters and Jay Taylor and his wife, Kami. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private graveside services will be held at Oakley Cemetery outside of Gilbert, LA. In lieu of flowers please give a gift in her memory to Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice.
