Gladys Martha Slack

SLACK, GLADYS Gladys Martha Slack of Lake City, Michigan passed away Monday, December 11th, 2017. She was 85 years old. She was born October 7, 1932 to Arthur and Martha (Schury) Loesel in Richville, MI. She was married to Walter Slack on June 13, 1953 in Reese, MI. Gladys was a nurse in pediatrics and surgical-care for St. Lukes Hospital in Saginaw for many years. They attended Peace Lutheran Church in Saginaw and later attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Cadillac. She had a great passion for gardening, and also enjoyed reading, sewing, attending theater shows, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She is survived by their children, Gail (Bruce) Bordt of Milford, MI; Thomas (Maura) Slack, of Portage, MI; Ann (Kevin) Kitchin of Dallas, TX; daughter-in-law, Mary Slack of Beaverton, MI; 12 grandchildren, Diane (Rob), Jason (Meghan), Daniel (Christine), Karen, Ryan (Alex), Ross, Spencer, Matthew, Mariah, Alina, Benjamin and Jonathan; and 1 great-grandchild, Eloise. Gladys is also survived by her sister, Doris Dale, Mt. Pleasant, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a son, James Slack, PhD. A memorial service will be held at 4 PM Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Cadillac, Michigan with Rev. Joel Hess officiating.
