Doyce Ann was born on July 30, 1962 in Albuquerque, NM to Doyce & Judy Nance. Shortly after her birth the family moved to the Dallas area finally settling in Richardson's Estates North. Doyce Ann went through her ELHI school years at Mohawk Elementary, North Jr. High and Pearce High School
Following graduation from Pearce she continued her education at Abilene Christian College receiving a bachelor's degree in accounting. Following college she went to work for Texas Instruments in a finance role. It was at TI that she met the love of her life, Jeff Straetker. She continued with TI until her organization was purchased by DSC which later became Alcatel. She decided to leave Alcatel to be a housewife. However, never one to be idle she devoted her energies to working as a volunteer with the McKinney SPCA spending countless hours in the care, training and rehabilitation of the animals there.
Doyce Ann and Jeff were married February 23, 1991 and spent the next 26 years living an adventurous life. They enjoyed travel, scuba diving, and hiking. They earned several scuba certifications including cavern diving in the cenotes of Mexico. One of their last trips was to the Canyonlands of Utah where they hiked and rappelled down 100+ foot high cliffs.
In late 2016 the doctor's discovered that Doyce Ann had cancer, not one type but three different types; endometrial, kidney and adrenal gland. Surgery removed the cancers but the adrenal cancer came back and which ultimately caused her death. The cancer took her life but not her spirit!
Doyce Ann is survived by her husband Jeff Straetker of Plano, her parents Doyce and Judy Nance of Richardson, and a sister Dana Nance of Seattle, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her brother Todd Nance of Santa Rosa, California.
